Class Syllabus
For Tuesday/Wednesday, January 20th/21st: All classes--Last Current Event (#8) of the 2nd Nine Weeks is due! We will not quiz on them until after exams, however. Also, next week, we will clear up exam questions and review for Exam Week.
ALL CLASSES: The last day that missed work will be allowed for makeup for any student from the 2nd Nine Weeks ONLY is Wednesday, January 28th or it will be permanently recorded as a "0" grade.
For Thursday/Friday, January 22nd/23rd and Monday, January 26th--We are reviewing in class for our Midterm Exam. You all have copied or typed our Exam Review down off the whiteboard and should cross-reference it with your notebook. Please organize your notebook to study based on the review. Additionally, we have reviewed past tests in class and if you are interested in checking out a test copy or coming to school early or during Extended Study to meet with me, go over tests, etc., please make arrangements to do so. Also, below is a list of our Written Definitions that each student will be required to write out for the exam. Please check with myself or a classmate if you need help with locating definitions from past tests/wksts. In Virtualshare, I have put 4 Jeopardy! Review games to move to your desktop and to work on at your leisure or with a friend. We will look at these on Monday in class as well. Please come and speak with me or email me with questions or concerns or if you need help with notebook organization, etc.

Thursday/Friday, February 5th/6th: All classes: We will have a quiz on the 2 blue Ottoman Empire and Mughal India wksts ONLY. Also, please bring your laptop to class as we will be taking the county-wide 18 Week Benchmark Assessment in class. We will also share our Current Events and shoot for a CE quiz next Monday.
Week of February 9-13th: All classes Current Events #9 due Thursday/Friday.
Week of February 16th-20th: We will have our Causes of the French Revolution Quiz on Tues/Wed of this week. We will finish as much of the FR as we can this week. French Revolution 3 homework will be due on Monday the 23rd. We will review on Monday for our French Revolution 2 Quiz that we will have on Tuesday/Wednesday, February 24th/25th. We will have our FR Test next Thursday/Friday, Feb 26th and 27th. I have put our Current Events Quiz off for now.
For Monday, March 2nd: All classes--Your Current Events #10 is due. Also, if you did not finish your Napoleonic Empire map in class after your test from Thurs/Fri, it is due today for a homework grade.
For Thursday/Friday, March 6/7th--We will pick up where left off before the snow with starting Napoleon and reviewing our FRev tests.
For Monday/Tuesday, March 9th/10th--All classes will have a brief Napoleon Quiz up to where we left off last week and then we will finish Napoleon today/tomorrow.
For Wednesday, March 11th--We will finish up whatever we are able to with the SOL testing schedule. We will likely start new material and review for Napoleon
For Thursday, March 12th--Same as Wednesday the 11th.
For Friday, March 13th: All classes will test on Napoleon.
For the week of March 16th-20th: We will start and finish the Congress of Vienna/Revolutions of 1848. All classes will test on this unit on Monday, March 23rd. Current Event #11 is due Thursday/Friday, March 19th and 20th.
Monday, March 23rd: TEST--Congress of Vienna/Revolutions of 1848. Dont forget your 3 Word Definitions. We are on to Italian and German Unification for next week. Homework due: Green German Unification sheet and Ems Telegram fill-in-the-blanks sheet for 2 separate grades. I should already have both of your maps.
MAKE UP WORK NOTICE FOR ALL CLASSES: Missing quizzes and tests from the 3rd Nine Weeks have to be made up before Thursday, April 2nd or they will be entered as zeros in the gradebook.
All Classes--Thursday/Friday, March 26th/27th: Big Quiz on Italian and German Unification. And, both German Unification sheets are due as well
All Classes--Monday/Tuesday, March 30th/31st--Both Industrial Revolution wksts are due for homework grades.
All Classes--Wednesday/Thursday, April 1st/2nd: Your Inventors chart is due for a homework grade.
All Classes--Tuesday/Wednesday, April 14th/15th: Your Comparative Econ Systems wkst is due for a homework grade.
All Classes--Wednesday/Thursday, April 16th and 17th: You will have a quiz on the IR, but not Comparative Economic Systems. You will have a test on Tuesday/Wednesday of next week on the IR and CES with our 5 definitions. Also, due Thursday and Friday, the 16th and 17th are the first 4 pages of your SOL Review work. Hang onto all of those items. It is due as a homework assignment and we will eventually have a quiz on it.
For Monday, April 20th--All classes: We will have an open-note quiz on SOL Review 1 and your Imperialism homework is due as well. For Tuesday/Wednesday, TEST on the IR. Dont forget your 5 definitions and to pull the powerpoints out of VS if you have not already for your review!
For week of April 20th-24th: Imperialism map of Africa is due Tuesday/Wednesday of this week. IR Test is still Tuesday/Wednesday of this week. Due for Thursday/Friday of this week, you will need to work through page 8 of your SOL review work.
For Monday, April 27th: Your Imperialism in North Africa and Middle East worksheet is due.
For Tuesday/Wednesday, April 28th/29th: Your Middle East Mandates map is due as well as through page 16 of your SOL Review is due for 2 homework grades.
I have put multiple SOL Reviews of all types in our virtualshare folder. Please start using them to review at school and at home! Drag them to your desktop, use them on the computer, or print them out setting the printing specifcations to save paper. Let me know if you need help with this!

REGARDING SOL REVIEW: All students should be reviewing on their own to supplement what we are doing in the classroom. We will not have homework for the next two weeks except work related to the WH2 SOL. I have placed many review documents in our VirtualShare. Each student should move this folder to their desktop and use the items to review. We will use these and other items in class as well. For students WITHOUT laptops, I am happy to print items for you OR you can go to the library and print using their printers. I can help you set the printing up. Also, we have 2 more full weeks of SOL Review Sessions during each Extended Study, Tuesday-Friday in the Teachers' Lounge at the back end of Commons 1. You can still see me for a pass if you would like to attend any or all of these sessions.

After SOL week: We will have our WWI Test and move on! We will be watching various documentaries/movies on 20th Century events as well. Additionally, we will focus on doing Current Event assignments based on the themes/concepts from these programs. More to follow in class...
SOL WEEK--We will start Hotel Rwanda during SOL Week. We will have our WWI Test NEXT Tuesday/Wednesday, May 26th/27th. Also, I am assigning the rest of our written work for the year this week as well. More to follow in class.
Week of May 26th: You have receieved your Current Events End of the Year Assignment/handout during SOL week (last week). Please see me/email me with any questions. The document is also uploaded to this website. Its link is at the bottom of this page. Please use the newsworthy weblinks at the bottom of this webpage, especially The Economist. All 4 articles are due AT THE LATEST on Thursday, June 4th and Friday, June 5th. Work will not be accepted after this date.
