By the end of the unit on erosion, the student will be able to:
1. Describe how both chemical and mechanical weathering can reshape the earth's surface.
2.  Explain the relationship between erosion, weathering and deposition and how they reshape the earth's surface.
3. List several ways that the changing surface of the earth can effect living systems.
4. Give several examples of how living things can reshape the landscape.
5. Describe how runoff can cause the development of a river system and how a river system changes over time. 
6. Describe how ground water can form aquifers, caverns and sinkholes.

By the end of the unit on rocks and minerals, the student will be able to:
1. Identify rock and mineral samples using observation.
2. Describe how sedimentary, igneous, and metamporphic rocks are formed and categorized.
3. Differentiate between objects that are translucent, transparent and opaque.
