PLAN YOUR READING.REMEMBER THE REPORT IS DUE IN CLASS THE DAY OF THE DEALINE;THIS MEANS YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE QUIZ PRIOR TO AR REPORT COLLECTION.
Assignments due this Week. THIS WEEKEND- REMEMBER TO WORK ON YOUR EDITING OF YOUR ESSAY. ALSO, THE ONAMATOPOEIA PROJECT IS DUE NEXT FRIDAY. THERE WILL BE A SPELLING QUIZ FRIDAY- 5 NEW WORDS ON OUR LIST AND ANY OTHER SPELLING WORDS WE HAVE HAD FOR A TOTAL OF TEN. ESSAY DATES- Students have begun their first essays. At this point, students should be working on Essay Steps 1-6 which can be found in their ESSAY DIRECTION handout. The second rough draft is due in class Nov. 10th.

Monday- Type your template to create your first rough draft of your "Best Teacher Essay." You should have three paragraphs typed. Double space the paper and use Times Roman 12' font. Don't forget your heading in the right hand corner. This is due IN CLASS Wed. Also, read and take AR quizzes- deadline this Friday.
Tuesday> - NO SCHOOL BUT TYPE YOUR ESSAY AND READ AR.
Wed. BRING YOUR ESSAY BACK TO CLASS. WE DID NOT HAVE MUCH TIME FOR EDITING IN CLASS TODAY, SO I WILL GIVE YOU MORE TIME THURSDAY.Be sure you finished the "Words to Own", "Spelling workshop" and "Language Link" pages in your "Rikki Tikki Tavi" packet. Wed-Also, work on another page in noun packet two. In your "After Twenty Years" lit packet, finish the Words to Own pages and the spelling practice page. these are due Thursday.
Thursday-LANGUAGE LINK- in the "After Twenty Years" Packet is due Friday. It is on proofreading and and punctuation marks. Also, study your spelling words. Study this week's and those from previous weeks. You will have at least ten words this week in total.All of this week's words will be on the quiz and others from previous weeks.Continue your work on Noun Packet II. Remember AR slips are due in class Friday.

Wed-Write what Roger would have written in his diary after his first day with "Miss Awful"- handout from class. Five sentences, at least. Blue and White classes at least eight.Read AR and take quizzes.Bring your AR summer quiz scores to class. I will be collecting these to enter into my gradebook.
Thursday-Journal for Roger at the end of his week with Miss Orville. How does he feel now? What would he write in his journal on Friday?Again, Blue and White classes eight sentences others five.Read AR and take quizzes. Study for spelling quiz.
HELPFUL HINT FOR STUDYING VOCABULARY Buy some index cards and metal rings, and you can create flash cards for your vocabulary. On one side, write the vocabulary word, on the other write the definition of the word. Now, hole punch the pack of vocab index cards in the upper right or left hand side of the cards. Thread the metal ring through the cards, and close the ring. Now, you have a nifty carry pack of vocab cards you can easily take anywhere and study. Quiz one another on the bus, in study, or in the cafetorium, and all you need is the pack of cards. The rings can be used again on new sets of cards.
REMEMBER TO USE THE GREEN TEAM HEADING ON ALL HOMEWORK
ASSIGNMENTS. The heading is placed on the upper right hand of your
paper. On the first line you should write or type your name. On the second
line, write or type your class ( color). On the third line, write or type the date of the assignment.
TYPING HOMEWORK When at all possible, type your work as it is easier to read. Always include your heading and always double space. If you can't type it, that's ok , but double space your writing as well (skip lines between each written line), and write legibly.
