Dear Pope John Families,
Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful teacher appreciation week! Each day was so amazingly awesome!!
Your kind words, thoughts, cards, flowers, baked treats, lunches and gifts really made me feel quite honored to be your children’s teacher this year.
I also would like to let you know that I greatly appreciate all of you as well. You all have been such supportive and faith-filled partners this year with educating your children.
I will forever remember this 2009-2010 school year to be quite successful due to your support, hard work, faith, and dedication to your children’s Catholic education.
Peace and Blessings Always,
Ms. Lori Fleetwood
Report cards will go home the last day of school (May 28).
***Please check Churchwerks as all grades have been updated.
MATH: Also make sure you are practicing math facts at least three times a week. A very good website is: aplusmath.com. We have been taking a "Mad Minute" math test daily for the last two weeks over addition and subtraction. All tests during the week go home in the math folder, excluding Fridays. The students record their results daily on a bar graph to see their progress. Please ask to see their graph. At this point, I will only be awarding participation points from the Friday Mad Minute toward the overall math grade. Next week, all "Mad Minutes" will be covering multiplication. We will be working from our text simultaneously regarding multiplication. Also, we have begun implementation of the Accelerated Math program in our classroom. It is another way to track and monitor student progress.
There will be one important change involving grades for the remainder of the year: homework will be weighted to consist of 10% of the total grade for each subject.
Progress reports will go home every three weeks per quarter. If your child received a grade lower than a C on the progress report, please sign and return.
Make sure that you are checking Churchwerks online grading system at least once a week.
There are many opportunities to help in your child's classroom this year. Specifically, I would like a mom or dad to come help one morning a week. We have centers every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:45-10:30 each week. If you would be interested, please let me know as soon as possible. We could create a rotating schedule as well for those interested.
Have a terrific summer!
Ms. Fleetwood
