JEUDI, le 18 septembre

McCLeskey Students

Today in class, we went over the Adjective homework sheet, learned the numbers 1-30, learned how to pronounce them, and also learned how to ask and tell how old someone is.
Tu as quel âge? ( Literally, you HAVE what age) How old are you? J'ai treize ans. ( I have 13 years) I am 13. Il a quatorze ans. ( He has 14 years) He is 13. Elle a quinze ans. ( She has 15 years) She is 15. So then.... J'ai= tengo= I have Tu as= tu tienes= you have
Il a = He has Elle a= She has

And yes, it is TOTALLY WEIRD that the french say I have years old, but what are you gonna do?
Lastly, we went to the Lil Computer Lab and played the following games to practice numbers. Check it out!

Also, check out the following activities to help you learn the numbers

1. http://www.kameleo.com/french/JEU-Ch0-Chiffres0a20.html

2. Here's a cool game. First, watch the numbers stroll by as they are pronounced.
http://www.edu365.cat/primaria/muds/frances/nombres/index.htm#
--Then click on PRATICA and click and drag the right side of the number name to the matching left side.
--Lastly, identify the numeral after the it is pronounced.
=================================
3. Learn the numbers from 21-30.

===============================
4. THis one is good because you have to type in the number, so you get practice spelling. It goes to twenty-five though, so I gave you another exercise to practice with that goes to thirty.

For those of you wondering if we will have class tomorrow, the answer is NO. I have sent an email to your parents, notifying them that during the weeks that there is an early release day, we will not have class the day of the early release, but we will have class for 15 minutes longer during the days we do have class that week.

If you have an issue with this, please have your parents send me an email at Susan.Fernie@cobbk12.org

DON'T FORGET that you will be taking a quiz on Wednesday, and use all the activities listed on Friday's posting to help you prepare.

Great job in the language lab today. Just look at yesterday's listings, just like we did in the lab today, to help you prepare.

CHANGE IN PLANS!! Study for quiz on MONDAY on Theme 1A vocabulary: Greetings, Bidding Goodbye, Asking and Telling Age, Asking and Telling someone's Name, Asking and Telling how you are and Where you are From.
Suggestion: Get someone at home to practice with you using your list the way you did with a partner this afternoon.
Also, you could continue working on your conversation, because you will complete it and present it FRIDAY, instead of the quiz, which you will take on MONDAY now.
Review with the following exercises: http://www.quia.com/jg/946450list.html
This has some stuff we haven't yet gone over, but alot we have, and you might find it a good review:

Also, don't forget to go to page 5 in your online textbook, using the password and username I gave you in class today , and choose a french name. And write down one thing you find cool about the online textbook.

DON"T FORGET! Show your parents the syllabus and get them to sign it.

Good job on the date worksheet, and finishing the Theme 1A handout, talking about where you and others are from. Study this sheet, because you will be taking a quiz on it on Friday.
ALSO, I handed out the rubric for the CALENDAR project today in class, which will be due on Friday, September 5 for a test grade.

Those of you who got to come to class today took notes on the ancient city of Poitiers, and hopefully you might remember these things when you come across them again in History Class. Then we watched a video about Poitiers and the surrouding area in the region called Poitou-Charentes. You sang the S'APPELER RAP, which was, I know, a little slow, but then hopefully it will help you to remember how to say HIS NAME IS. We finished up filling our THEME 1 Vocabulary List, and practiced how to pronounce the different phrases.
What you DIDN'T finish is class today on the handout should be completed for HOMEWORK!

LUNDI, le 25 août

If you need to take the Classroom Commands quiz again, sign up to take it either Wednesday morning, or Thursday afternoon, and make sure you use the online aids I referenced in previous days to help you prepare.
Today in class we talked about the translations and uses of subject pronouns. We also compared and contrasted subject pronouns in French and English.
We then practiced a bit with numbers. Tomorrow, it's days of the week, months, colors and how to ask and tell how old someone ELSE is.

I trust you all did well on the CLASSROOM COMMANDS QUIZ today. No homework this week-end, but it is always a great idea to review what we have learned so far for a few minutes every day.
