Monday, February 27th

Hand in your maps / Be sure your map includes a title, compass rose (lower right corner), labels, legend (lower left corner), symbols, and colors.  You did not need to include latitude or longitude lines or a scale.

Also make sure you have a written description on the back of your map.  In those directions you needed to include the cardinal directions when needed
(North, East, South, West)  The directions need to be very specific.

In addition you should have the 9 elements of a map defined and attached to your map.

Today, we will read 1-1, pages 5-9 (Five Themes of Geography)
We will do the 1-1 assessment questions on page 9.

We will skip 1-2.

Assignment:  Go to page 15, List and explain the 9 elements of a map.
   FFA people - The 9 elements of a map are due for tomorrow.
                
                    Next, for Monday, draw and create a map showing the route from
                    your house to our school.  In your map, include all 9 elements of
                    of a map except, the lines of longitude and latitude.  Show major
                    streets, roads, highways, etc....  Use a key to show buildings or
                    landmarks and your route.  On the back of your map, write out the
                    directions from your house to the school.  Be very specific.

To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks, world history students will learn more in-depth about the worst attack in American history.  We will watch videos from the history channel, discuss, and understand this pivotal event in world history as well.

You will have this evening to work on your presentations.  They will be due tomorrow.
