Supplies for First Grade
For the First Day of School
Please send your child to school with the following items clearly labeled with their name for their personal use.
· backpack
· folder with pockets – not a binder or trapper keeper
· an adult’s old t-shirt to be used as an art smock
· something to carry their snack in
· a spiral bound notebook, no perforated pages please
· $5 for Scholastic News subscription
Please fill a pencil box with
· package of sharpened #2 pencils
· glue sticks
· one box of crayons, 16 or 24 count
· scissors
· eraser
For the classroom
Please send these items to school in a plastic bag labeled “for the classroom”.
1 bottle of glue
1 broad tip black dry erase marker
a sock
box of tissues
box of baby wipes or disinfecting wipes
a box of large Ziploc bags
glue sticks
box of crayons (boxes of 16 or 24)
Planning Ahead
· Take advantage of sales
Many of the materials in your child's pencil box will need to be refilled throughout the year. It is often cheaper to purchase extra pencils, crayons, and glue sticks during the summer sales to send in later, as your child needs them replenished.
· Stock up on envelopes
All money should be sent to school in an envelope or ziploc bag clearly labeled with your child’s name and the intended purpose.
· Expenses to anticipate
During the year, first grade goes on a field trip. The cost is generally about 5 or 6 dollars. Specific information will be sent home when arrangements and costs have been finalized.
