Dear Students and Parents,
I am still waiting for a response from the school district regarding the request. However, I have made a decision.
Regardless of the response, if we cancel, it will not be until October 1, 2002. Throughout September I will make every effort possible to recruit more travelers. We did gain one more strong maybe, Kate Warner.
Regarding your payments, here is what you should do.
If you joined before April 1, (Aryn, Katie, Stefan), be sure to get your next payment of $200 to NETC by September 1. If you do, and if we cancel during October, you are guaranteed a 100% refund.
If you joined between April 1 and July 1, (Rachel, Sarah, Shane) you have two options: (1) Make your $400 payment to NETC by September 1. By doing this, you're guaranteed to keep the discount cost of the tour package ($2374 instead of $2574). The drawback is if we cancel, you lose $180.
(2) Hold off on that $400 payment until we are sure we are going, i.e. October. The drawback is you will now be charged the $2499 ($2574 with a $75 discount). The advantage is if we cancel, you will have only lost the $95 you've paid so far.
If you haven't joined yet (Farren, Jonathan, Kate, and any others) and you do decide to join us, you need to have a $495 to me as soon as you decide. I will not send it to NETC until October. That way, if we cancel, you lose nothing. However, I would like the payment as soon as possible simply because I'll be able to count you as a definite "yes" and no longer a maybe. I will need to know this before I make the decision.
Thank you for your patience during this. I apologize for any stress this is causing you. Let's just hope that we get over this hurdle soon. In all honesty, I feel confident that we won't cancel.
