Wochentage Freizeit Project Sample:
Dimensions - 4 1/4 inches X 38 1/2 inches (3 half sheets and 1 quarter sheet of copy paper) Create a strip of frames with sentences and illustrations of what you do each day of the week. These sentences should demonstrate -your understanding of vocabulary we have been learning - the sentence rule that the verb must be in the second position in a German statement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part I - 1st draft ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On looseleaf or printed on your computer, write 7 sentences in German. Each sentence should be written on a separate line. Lines must be double-spaced. Each sentence must start with "Am" then a day of the week. You should use a different day of the week for each sentence. After the time expression like "Am Sonntag" you should write the verb/action that shows what you do on that day of the week. Immediately after the verb write "ich." Additional sentence information can be written after "ich." THESE 7 SENTENCES ARE DUE NEXT CLASS SESSION. (Because we had a sub on Monday and not all students received the requirements, theses sentences will be due on Friday, September 28) I will make editing suggestions and return them to you the next time we meet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part II - Collecting pictures ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While you are waiting to get your sentences back, collect pictures that correspond to the sentences you wrote. Pictures can come from the following sources: - your own drawings - clip art from computer or elsewhere - magazines - your own photos (you can use pictures of yourself doing these activities) Tip: Whenever you are working on your picture collection, practice saying the activity in German! You do not need to bring these to school until you have completed Part III. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Part III - Putting together your final project ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Construct a chronological strip of your weekly activities. "Chronological" means in the order the days of the week occur. On each frame you should have a sentence and a picture illustrating the meaning of the sentence. One way to do this is cut a piece of paper in half lengthwise and draw a line down its center to create two frames. Make a few of these then tape them together side-by-side. This is how I made the SAMPLE above. Tip: As you construct each frame, say the sentence for that frame over and over again. Great way to complete your speaking practice! To get a good grade on this project you should make sure that... - the German in the sentences is correct (25 points) - the printing is very neat (you can use word processing) (25 points) - the pictures match the sentences (25 points) - the overall appearance is neat and clear (15 points) - the project is turned in on time (10 points) THE FINAL PROJECT IS DUE THE NEXT SESSION AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR FIRST DRAFT WITH EDITING RECOMMENDATIONS. (Thursday, October 4)
