Essay Hi my name is Gabriel Rodriguez and I'm a reporter that has just arrived in Beijing, China. It cost $1, 364 to fly here, this is a rip off .The reason I'm here is that I'm doing research on China's economy, religion, population and also their government. China is located in the Eastern hemisphere of Asia and is located between Mongolia, which is north of China, and India, Burma, Laos, and Vietnam, which is south of China. As I was walking in Beijing I was asking people what type of government they had, and what everyday meal would look like, what language they speak, what’s the major religion in China, what’s their population, and I also asked them if they had any traditions or holidays and if they have a special landmark. Well I found out that they have a communist government and their leader’s names are Jiang Zemin which is the president and general secretary of the Chinese communist party. Li Peng is the head of the National Peoples Congress. Premier Zhu is third in the overall hiearchy. Get this! The population in China is a whopping 1,281,713,300 and increasing every second, that’s amazing! Well duh! The language of China is going to be Chinese speaking of which I picked up a few words like (gu'n) means to shut or close, (ylng) means sheep, (milo) means to trace out, (Bli) is the color white and the last one is (b’n) which means to carry. I asked a person on the street if they have any holidays or any traditions. As a matter of fact, they do! The have Chinese New Years just as Americans do and they also have a national day which is celebrated on October 1st. Again I asked the same person what the major religion in China is and surprisingly he said that it was Muslim, I thought it would be Buddhists. I asked him a few questions and he didn't seem to mind. He was telling me about the symbols of his religion which is a cresset moon with a star in the middle and that they pray five times a day, they can pray anywhere as long as its facing East. When they prey they put their right hand over left and left over the bellybutton then go though eight different motions and bow twice. In China an everyday meal would have rice, beef, and fish these are the staple foods in this country. A famous landmark in this country would be Mt. Everest but a famous landmark that was built would have to be none other that The Great Wall Of China. it was built to keep the North from invading which was the overall purpose. It took 300,000 slaves to build and complete this bad boy. The wall is 2,150 miles long and the height is 20-25. I'm going to tell you a little bit about this wall , The width is 25 feet Dang! Watch me ever walk this. Here is something that a lot of people don't know about the wall, when it was built it became the world's largest military structure! In this country there are natural resources like water, which is used for basically everything from drinking to putting water in your car. There is also coal and you can forget the forests to well that are used for its lumber and manufacturing and housing. Another resource is the farmland. The people of China depend on the farmers so they can eat. The last one is rice, which is one of the most major crops in China. The per capita gross national product in China is $490.00 The way that people make their money is to farm or either to work in one of China's cities as business men. The way that people in China go from place to place is either by Plane, cars, bikes and they also have railways, highways, waterways, pipelines and also ports and harbors. This is why I flew from the U.S all the way to Beijing, China just to get some research done. My advice to any one that is going to Beijing is that...well just have a good time and that its a really cool place and you can learn a lot there. In my opinion, I think that China is a really cool place and that I hope to go there some other time than just to do work!
