Grading and Assignment Structure:
A point value is assigned for each assignment. The point value is increased from daily class assignments, homework assignments, and quizzes to major projects and test grades. A weekly participation grade will also be assessed. At the end of the grading period, the number of points earned divided by the total possible points will be used as a basis for determining grades. (Ex. 980/1000 = 98%)
Beginning of Class:
Each day students will have an assignment to do at the bell. This means by the time the bell is ringing, students should be in their seats doing whatever is on the board.
Hall passes:
Each student has a hall pass form within the school handbook. The pass must be in the student’s possession for it to be used! Passes should not be used during the first five minutes or last five minutes of a class.
Progress Reports:
Progress reports are issued during the middle of the nine weeks. The teacher may send other reports home as indicated for both excellent work and areas needing improvement.
Homework:
Students will be issued a textbook to be used for home study. It is each student's responsibility to see that work is complete and on schedule. Late homework will receive a 10% reduction in grade for a maximum of three days. Work must be typed or written in blue or black ink. Students should write on one side of the page. Each page must contain the student's name, period, and date. Students are expected to retain all work on file for at least one marking period.
Absences:
Each student is responsible for the work missed due to an excused absence. Projects are assigned in advance, giving ample time for preparation. If work is submitted late, the notation of DAYS ABSENT at the top of the page will avoid a reduced grade.
Final Note:
Students having questions, difficulty understanding directions for an assignment, or needing extra assistance of any kind are asked to notify me in class or during school hours.
