Centennial High School Curriculum Specialist English/Language Arts 9-12

Welcome to Ms. Sierra-Perry's American Literature page for MSP1, MSP5, and MSP6!

Background

We have viewed videos about F.Scott Fitzgerald the author of The Great Gatsby, read a short story by him, and have listened to music of the Jazz Age. We have also begun to read the novel in class. During our study of Gatsby aside from reading the novel, we will also continue working on our ability to evaluate web sites, and create annotated bibliographies for people, places, and events that have taken place during the time of Gatsby.

This past week, students were given five "Terms of the Decade" that they are to research. This week, they will create five PowerPoint slides that include:

  • An identification of the person, place, or thing
  • Discuss how it relates to the decade, and
  • How it may connect to The Great Gatsby

If possible, students will locate an illustration of the person, place, or thing and place the illustration on the slide.

In addition, students will create a works cited page identifying their sources using MLA format.

The resources that students will have available are in the library and on the internet. We will meet in the Library on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

The Communication Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily

The school library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
