Geburtstag Projekt
Please complete the following in anticipation of a Birthday party.
1. Read pages 269, 270-271, 277, 278, 279, 291
2. Design and create a birthday card. (You may use a computer)
Be creative. Use lots of German!! It is for your penpal. You can find phrases to use in my suggestions in the list. These are due on MONDAY, 4/14.
3. Bring in one(if possible-two) birthday gift(s) that have been pre-approved by your parents. (These are for someone in the class.) You may leave them with me labeled for the appropriate class period beginning 4/14-4/18. Here are the rules:
a. Valued at no more than $5
b. It can be new or used
c. It can be something useful or stupid
d. It can be humorous
e. It MUST comply with all school regulations. (This means nothing in poor taste, nothing that might be used as a weapon, nothing insulting, nothing that might truly offend someone else.)
f. Wrap the gift(s) in festive paper
g. If it is gender specific (like lip-gloss or cologne.) Label it accordingly: Für ein Mädchen or Für einen Jungen
h. Bring a statement from your parents that they know what it is, and that it complies with the aforementioned rules.
Examples of some kinds of things: a pack of pencils, or other school supplies, (these are useful, but maybe a little boring) a magazine of interest or not, a book, an old CD—this could be good music or tacky music, an old but still wearable T-shirt (freshly laundered), a pet’s toy, new pair of socks, candy or other food item still in store packaging, etc. Starbuck's gift cards have been very popular. If in doubt about appropriateness, check with Frau Lafky.
Please bring in gifts as soon as possible. I know some people will forget, so if someone has two to bring, that would be awesome.
On a separate sheet of paper, write a letter to your penpal about birthdays. You may tell him/her about your last or upcoming birthday. Read my sample letter below and modify yours to fit. This is due 4/25. (You may turn it in earlier)
Ich habe am 2. Oktober Geburtstag. Ich bin an einem Sonntag geboren. Das bedeutet daß ich Glück habe. Mein Geburtstag ist im Herbst and das finde ich toll.
Wenn ich eine Fete habe, kommen alle meine Schulfreunde. Ich bekomme viele Geschenke. Wenn ich ein Geschenk nicht mag, das tausche ich um. Musik gefällt mir, aber Bücher nicht.
Ich feiere mit meinen Freunden sehr gern. Ich esse gern Kuchen und Eis---besonders Vanilleneis! Dieses Jahr möchte ich eine sehr große Party haben!!! Ich möchte schwimmen gehen!!! Wir werden Pizza essen, Cola und Limonade trinken, und natürlich auch Kuchen und Eis essen.
Meine Eltern schenken mir gewöhnlich Klamotten, aber meine Oma schenkt mir oft Geld. Das mag ich sehr!!! Ich kann damit einkaufen gehen.!
In unserer Deutschklasse feiern wir unsere Geburtstage. Ja, ich weiß, wir haben alle verschiedene Geburtstage. Wir haben eine große Party in der Cafeteria. Wir spielen als vier Mannschaften. Es hängt von der Jahreszeit unserer Geburtstagen ab. Mein Geburtstag ist im Herbst. Ich spiele mit dem "Herbst" Team. Es gibt auch Sommer-, Winter- und Frühlingsteams. Wir müssen nur Deutsch sprechen. Wir bekommen auch Geschenke. Das macht Spaß! Wir dürfen ein neues Geschenk nehmen oder, wenn wir wollen, wir dürfen ein Geschenk von einem Klassenkameraden nehmen. Es soll sehr lustig sein.! Wir essen Kuchen und trinken Saft.
