Curriculum for the Week
We are moving into our last "regular" school week in 5th grade. Most classes are finishing their CAASPP testing this week. In addition, some classes will be taking (or have started to take) their third benchmark tests in math and language arts. These tests will provide information for the final reports of student progress (report cards.) We have several other tests happening this week: in Hayden and Sanchez's classes, students will be taking a Chapter 8 test in Social Studies. There will also be an open-book test on Chapter 6 in science in Mrs. Hayden's class (Friday). Finally, the last math test will be given in Mrs. Hayden's class on Tuesday, 5/26. The last formal math class will be held on Thursday, 5/29. The last essay of the year will be written this week: the persuasive essay or letter.

State Testing - CAASPP Test
Students will be finishing their CAASPP testing, and continuing with their benchmark testing. Please ensure that students get 8-10 hours of sleep on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, and that they eat a good, protein-enriched breakfast on the mornings of the tests. Thank you for your help and support.

Promotion
“Our heartfelt congratulations are extended to each family as you celebrate the successful achievement of your student’s promotion to the next step in their continuing education. We hope you can take the time to fully celebrate this event after dismissal on the last day of school! PLEASE DO NOT BRING GIFTS, FLOWERS, BALLOONS, OR FOOD TO THE CEREMONY. These items are distracting to the children who need to pay attention to the directions from their teachers as well as to the parents sitting in the audience. Everyone wants to have an excellent view of the ceremony. If you bring these items, they will be labeled by the parent and left in the main office until after the ceremony. Thank you!”

¡Gracias! "
