Jr Beta News 2009/2010 Theme for National Beta Club: Beta: A Circle of Winners '09/'10 Geraldine Junior Beta Officers: President - Leighton Lingerfelt Vice President - Mayson Chadwick Secretary - Jessie Crowley Reporter - Hannah Garner Chaplain - Erin Puckett Alabama Junior Beta State Convention will be held in Mobile, Alabama on March 11-12, 2010 at the Renaissance Mobile Hotel and Convention Center. We will actually leave on Wednesday, March 10th. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown Mobile. (Click on the link below to see more). The Junior Beta National Convention will be held in Louisville, Kentucky on June 26-29, 2010 at the Galt House Hotel/Kentucky International Convention Center. (Click on the link below to see more about this hotel). Induction Ceremony went well and we now have 201 Junior Beta Members. We continue to grow as this is our largest club ever! We still have cookbooks left if you are new in Jr. Beta or if you know of someone who would like to buy one. We need to sell these and they are GREAT!! I need everyone to ask at least 1 person if they would like to buy a Jr. Beta cookbook. For those of you that have not seen them, they are hardback, 3-ring binders filled with over 300 recipes in all food categories submitted by faculty, staff, students, parents of Geraldine School as well as people in our community. **A WORD ABOUT FUNDRAISING THIS YEAR... We must start our fundraising now for our state and national conventions!! As I have done in the past, I will keep a ledger on each member by grade level and the fund raisers and service projects that you participate in this year. I expect everyone to do their fair share in order to participate in the "fun" things. I am so proud of our club!! We participated in 2 service projects last year: We raised $500 for the red cross and $750 for American Cancer Society. We will participate in service projects this year also - more information is to come! We are so excited about our upcoming convention and all of the competition areas in which we will be participating!! **This year, we will be running Jeri Crowley for Alabama Junior Beta State Reporter. If you have not turned in your convention paperwork and $50 deposit, I need to have it this week. I have already reserved the rooms and bus but they are both almost filled up. If I don't hear from you this week, the rooms and seats will be gone. If anyone, Beta member or parent, has any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school 659-4497 or my cell 717-8979. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about conventions, service, and/or fundraising! I am looking forward to another great year in Beta and I hope you are too!!
