Greenbrier Junior High School Jr. High Counselor grades 8 and 9

Welcome to Greenbrier Junior High School.  We are so glad that you are here with us.  Junior High is a great place to learn alot about who you are and where you want to go with your life.  We talk about that with our students and try to help them realize that in a very few short years, they will be walking across a stage and getting a diploma.  We are trying to help them prepare for that moment.

In order to help our students prepare, we will be involving them in many things.  We will help them through small groups, which will include:  Study Skills, Anger Management, Divorce Care, How to Get Along with my Family,  How to be a better Friend, What does it mean to Date?,  and several other topics of interest to Junior High Students.  Small Groups for December are:  How to deal with the Death in my life.  Anger Management  Students can sign up for these classes, teachers can recommend a student attend or parents can call and request and student placed in a group.

We will be completing Small Group during the Spring Season.  Small groups will include How to Get Along Better with my Family, and Dating.

Thanks for the great job everyone did on testing.  Thanks parents and students for being here and being ready to test.  That makes it all run so much better.

CAP (Career Action Plan) conferences will be during Parent Teacher Conferences March 24th.  You will be contacted by your student's advisor to help select classes for next year.  Students have already been given information about possible class choices for next year.  I will be going over to Middle School soon (mid-April) and begin getting ready to have 7th graders become Juinor High students.

End of Course Algebra I Testing will be April 26th.  Please remember all those good testing tips to be ready for testing that day.  I know that everyone will be in testing mode for one more (and the last) test.

Please come by and see us and let us know if there is anything we can do to make your experience and your child's learning better. Don't forget to check out a great web site called Tasseltime.  You can get there by going to www.tasseltime.com  Great information for students and parents, especially if you want to know the lastest information on Colleges and Scholarships!!
