WALLACE MIDDLE SCHOOL CHORUS AND GENERAL MUSIC If your child has a grade in class that you are not pleased with, Thursday is makeup work day. Several students will have an A after they finish thier work. Do not be alarmed about their grades. I will inform you if they are in trouble with this class. Sixth Grade general music is beginning the first nine weeks. We will work on theory, counting music, writing melodies and play music games to reinforce the concepts being taught. We will spend time on the instruments, their origins and how they work. The last unit is on African music where the student will find the roots of the music they listen to today. Sixth Grade general music students will need the following items during the unit on instruments. We are making unique instruments to experiment with sound. The rainsticks are interesting with the objects we use in them. We could use the following items in class if you are not using them at home. 1. old water hoses 2. old pvc pipe 1/2 inch 3. rice or macaroni, buttons, or beads 4.
