This week we will continue our studies of evolution by traveling side by side with Charles Darwin during his world expedition on a ship named the HMS Beagle. We will then take a closer look at "Darwin's finches" on the Galapagos Islands. Darwin was so intrigued by these finches because their were over 13 species that could no longer breed with each other. Each species looked slightly different, lived in a different place, or ate different foods. Each species had evolved their own, very successful adaptations - allowing them to co-exist with other finches. Darwin's visit to these islands lead to his theory of Natural Selection. Lastly, we will be looking at human evolution and be investigating who our ancestors were and what they looked like. A 3 bar quiz on evolution will be on Monday June 11th (the last full week of school!).
