Line 1: summa celeritate-with greatest speed (This is ablative of manner-tells how something is done.  More information about this kind of ablative can be found on p. 347 in your text book. 

Line 2: viis-via is a first declension word (see “puella p. 323). 323   You need to memorize first declension endings. In this sentence “via” is in the ablative case since it is the object of the preposition “in.”  In can also take the accusative case when it means “into.” 

ingens huge-This word means “huge” and is nominative singular.  It modifies multitudo.  See “omnis” on p. 162 for 3rd declension adjective inflections.
 
erat-was.  The complete conjugation of the verb “to   be” is on p. 355.  You need to memorize the imperfect tense.

Line 3:   ingentia-see  ingens Line 2.  ingentia modifies onera. 

Line 4:  portatur-first conjugation, third person singular passive, present tense.  The infinitive of this verb is “portare” which means to carry.  See p, 332 of your text book for passive verb conjugations. 

Line 5:  quae-accusative plural modifies “omnia.”  See chart on p. 4 for definition. 

eam-“her”-accusative singular feminine.  See chart p. 329

Line 6-quae-nominative singular feminine modifies “lectica.”  chart on p. 4 for definition.

servis-“slaves” ablative of agent see p. 346 for more information. 

Line 7:  ea-“it” ablative singular feminine.  See chart p. 329

qui-nominative singular masculine.  See chart on p. 4 for definition. 

librum-“book”  accusative  singular 2nd declension look at ager p. 323 for other inflections. 

Line 8:  quorum-“of whom” genitive plural  See chart p. 4

Line 10:  quidam-see “Building the meaning” #2 P, 13 and  chart  under “Forms indefinite adjectives p. 14

Line 11: potest-“is able” Third person singular present.  See chart “XIX. Irregular verbs:  Infinitive, Imperative, Indicative” p. 335  You need to memorize the present tense. 

cadit-“he falls”  Third person singular present.  See “mittere”  p. 331 You need to memorize the present tense of regular 3rd conjugation verbs.
