Track Meets
General
Information
Meets officially begin at
4:30 PM, but this depends on when buses arrive. If buses are
running late, a meet may start as late as 5:00-6:00 PM.
Home track meets typically end around
6:30PM. Away meets typically end between 7-7:30.
For away meets, only the students
selected to compete will ride the bus from TMS.
Once students are finished competing
at an away meet, they have the option to either ride home with parents,
in a carpool, or back to TMS on the bus. If students ride back on the
bus to TMS, parents need to pick their children up in the TMS parking
lot. Students are encouraged to use their cell phones to contact
parents on the way back to TMS to give a more accurate arrival time.
If students are leaving ANY track
meet, they need to check out with a coach and state whom they are
leaving with.
Coaches hold time trials, run offs,
and jump offs to determine who participates in meets.
Students not selected to compete in away meets do not attend the meet.
Meets start with field events.
The mile, 400 exhibition, and the 4x100 relay often run concurrently
with field events.

It's a good idea for students to have
a water bottle for practices and meets.
We need parent
volunteers to help out track meets. See Mr. Gorman at the
judges table if you would like to help during a home meet.
TRACK AND FIELD CONTRACT
Student athletes and parents :
Please read and discuss the rules for the Tuckahoe Track & Field team. Please sign the
bottom and return to Coach Gorman or Coach Martin. Contracts must be returned by that day to be on the team.
We will use a demerit system. Each infraction (breaking of a rule) will be one demerit. The first demerit will result in a student/athlete conference. The second demerit will result in dismissal from the team – no exceptions.
Rules:
1. No unexcused absences – if come to school, you must have a written note if you are not able to come to practice. A detention is not an excused absence.
2. Practices end at 5:15. Rides need to be here at that time.
3. Absolutely no fighting, bullying, or name calling.
4. No foul language.
5. No wandering or straying from the team or event you are working with.
If you are leaving one group you are working with to work with a different group, you
must tell a coach (ex – if you are working on long jump and leave to work with the
sprinters, tell the long jump coach)
6. During a meets, all athletes must stay in our team area unless they are at an event in
which they are competing.
This signature confirms the rules have been read and will be followed.
