Syllabus

           -daily lessons

           - tests at the end of each unit
           - authentic assessment - mock hearing

States Test
The student will take the state test each Friday until it has been passed with 100% accuracy. Each week that the student is unable to pass the test, the grade will drop 2 points. (50 points total)


Curriculum
We The People
The class will be using the We The People materials developed by the Center for Civic Education. Students will be assigned to take part in a small group and will prepare statements based upon research questions provided.
Unit 1 – Philosophical and Historical Foundations of the American Political System
Unit 2 – Creation of the Constitution
Unit 3 – Values and Principles within the Constitution that shape American Institutions and Practices
Unit 4 – Development of the Bill of Rights
Unit 5 – Bill of Rights Protections
Unit 6 – Democratic Citizenship
A 100 point test will follow each of the units.

We The People Culminating Hearing
Written script over unit questions – 100 points
Oral questioning over unit – 50 points


Community Service
The student must take part in a minimum of 15 hours in community service activities, which must be completed by the last day of class.
