Reading: This week we will read the story The Best Vacation Ever. Amanda gets to spend her spring vacation traveling across the Unites Sates. They will read along as Amanda reports back on all of the exciting places she visits.

**Look at the Quia Activity section below to play a vocabulary concentration game and word search that go with this story.
Skills: The boys and girls will be working on vocabulary development, comprehension, drawing conclusions, and the inflectional endings "er" and "est".
Language: This week the students will utilize mulitsensory grammar to practice parts of speech. We will also be learning to use irregular verbs correctly.
Spelling: We are on Unit 22 in spelling. It will focus on consonant clusters.
Math: In Math, the students will use fraction names and symbols to describe fractional parts of whole objects or sets of objects with denominators of 12 or less. Please remember to study your subtraction facts!!
Science: We will begin a unit on the human body. We will focus on the skeletal and muscular systems.

***Tuesday, January 29th, is an early dismissal day. The students will be dismissed at 12:40.
***February 1st is Fifth Grade Take-Over Day! Our fifth grade "teachers" are so excited about spending their day in our second grade classrooms.
***Boys and girls, if you visit the class page, let me know by telling me the secret code word. Remember to tell me quietly. The secret code word this week is “muscle.” Tell me those words for a ticket.
