Counseling Department at Towle
The Towle School Counseling Department works with the students, parents and staff in order to facilitate strong school and community relationships. In addition, the department deals with the emotional, social and scholastic development of Towle students. The following programs are used to serve the needs of our students in the classroom, in small groups and on a one on one basis.
CHARACTER EDUCATION
Respect Program: Building various forms and environments in which respect is a part of our lives. Establishing the foundation for self-respect and authentic relationships with others.
Positive Attitudes: Defining the element of positive versus negative behavior and establishing the valus of honesty and trustworthiness. Teaching responsibility and accountability to possess a good reputation and to be a productive citizen.
Recent Activities
*Peacemaker Awards designed around Martin Luther King Jr. & Gandhi reinforce the use of peaceful resistance & gentleness versus aggressive force & violence.
SELF AWARENESS & SELF ESTEEM
Bully Proof: A five week program in which the various elements of inappropriate social behavior are discussed. The topical discussions include joking,teasing, targets, bystanders and followers. The use of rloe-play is intensively used and written assignments provide further
reflection.
Friends & Friendship: Developing an authentic friendship circle around the following topics with the goal of making the classroom a community that values each other and works together.
