On this site, you will find all announcements, assignments and review activities for this class. You will need to check this site every day. CONTACT INFO: The best way to contact me is through email. There is a link on this site that will enable you to directly connect to my email address. CLASS SCHEDULE: 1st Period: Administrative Aide Duty 2nd Period:US Gov't 3rd-4th Periods: World History I 5th Period: US Gov't 6th Period: World History I 7th Period: Planning *I am an Administrative Aide, therefore, will not always be in my room during 1st or 7th Period. If it is urgent that you find me, go to the Main Office. *********************************************************** MAKE-UP WORK: you have the number of days you were absent plus 1 to make up work, including tests. This is YOUR responsibility; I should not have to nag you! *********************************************************** EXTRA CREDIT PAPER: write a 5 page paper on a topic that we have covered during this current marking period (MP1). You will need to TYPE the paper, using Times New Roman font which is no larger than 12. This will need to be double spaced, except for your Name, Date and Subject...these should be single spaced. There should only be one space between each paragraph. You will need to use at least 3 sources from which you have researched your information. Be sure to cite your sources on an extra page of your paper. This extra credit will count as 20 points added to the biggest homework assignment of the marking period. All extra credit papers will be due by the last Friday of the marking period by the end of the day. I will also be accepting baked brownies or cookies for 10 pts added to a test point total. You may only do this once per grading period. You must actually bake them, not buy them!!! Cupcakes, muffins, etc...may be substituted upon approval of Miss Hester....No, I do not share with the class...they are all for me. ******************************************************************** %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% SOL NOTECARDS: For SOL review, each student will be required to HAND WRITE notecards, answering the questions contained in their SOL Review Packet. Each student is expected to do his/her OWN work, writing BOTH the question and the answer on each notecard in order to receive full credit. There will be one question per notecard. Pen or pencil is acceptable, however, students will not be able to type the questions and tape or glue them to the notecard. At the top of the notecard on one side, write the Group Number and SOL that coordinates with the questions. It is in the student's best interest to put their initials on each card to avoid any confusion and prevent theft. The question will be written on one side of the card, the answer will be written on the other side. Each assigned group of notecards will count as a quiz grade. If you fail to do one group of notecards, you will have an opportunity to turn in the notecards the next day for 1/2 credit. However, you will also be expected to turn in the assigned group of notecards for that next day. It is strongly suggested to keep up with the assigned groups and do extra notecards when you can. Doing these notecards is a lot of work; however, these notecards will be extremely helpful when it comes time to review for your SOL. Please keep track of your notecards and hold on to them. I will provide the students with the SOL Questions, it is up to the students to find the answers. But, I will provide opportunities for the student to obtain the answers. It is very important that students have working laptops during this time, although not mandatory. Please make sure that the laptop has access to VirtualShare. Also, check to see if the laptop has ExamView and TestNav loaded. You can decide to either buy notecards, use what you have already, or cut up paper so that you can use it like a notecard. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% ******************************************************************* WEEKS OF 5/10-5/21: MONDAY 5/10: -Group #1-11, Questions 1-54 TUESDAY 5/11: -Group #12-19, Questions 55-98 WEDNESDAY 5/12: -Group #20-24, Questions 99-132 THURSDAY 5/13: -Group #25-29, Questions 133-167 FRIDAY 5/14: -SOL BENCHMARK TEST -Group #30-41, Questions 168-246 ^^There are SOL REVIEW games located on this site.
