First Grade February 6-10, 2012 Week 23
Notes & Reminders:
1. Wow! What a wonderful Catholic Schools Week! Thanks to all who made it possible. The children had a blast!
2. REMINDER: Mrs. Adrienne’s class will be doing prayer and pledge at assembly this week. On the day that your child is reading, please be sure to have him or her in the gym by 7:20.
3. First grade is OUT of Kleenex! In lieu of using their sleeves, please send tissues soon!
4. HGS Registration for 2012-2013 (returning students) begins Monday, Feb. 6th.
* Please continue to practice math addition facts nightly.

Reading: Identify and spell ai and _ay words, compare and contrast, rereading as a comprehension strategy, synonyms, sentence structure, paragraph writing; Dibels testing
Math: Ordering numbers, greatest to least, graphing, math facts-addition to 16
Religion: Chapter 23 – We Celebrate the Mass

Monday:
Math: Complete pg. 89 front and back in homework book. Practice addition math facts to 16! For speed, facts should be memorized!
Reading: Read and orally use each vocabulary word in a sentence. Study High Frequency words for test Thursday, #91-95 (in new spelling journal).
Spelling: Read, say, write spelling words in journal 2 times each. Highlight “ai and _ay” spelling.
Language: Complete page 17, Synonym Activity Sheet, in blue folder.
Tuesday:
Math: Complete pg. 90 front and back in homework book. Practice addition facts to sums of 16 for Timed Test on Thursday.
Reading: Play a game of “battle” with your parents, using your vocabulary words. Review High Frequency words #91-95. Reread “Stormy Weather” and orally answer questions 2 and 3.
Spelling: List your spelling words in ABC order. Write a sentence in your journal with one of your words, use an exclamation mark!
Language: Complete ½ sheet page 170 on synonyms.
Wednesday:
Math: Complete pg. 293-294 in blue folder as review for quiz tomorrow. **Omit #5**
Reading: Review vocabulary words. Review High Frequency words for test Thursday. Reread “Stormy Weather” and look up Holy Ghost’s phone number in the phone book and write it down for a sticker.
Spelling: With your fingertips, tabletop write your words.
Religion: Complete pg. 270 in Religion book as a Daily Grade.
Language: Complete pg. 280 as a review for quiz tomorrow.
Thursday:
Reading: Weave an oral story using vocabulary words as review for test tomorrow. Reread “Stormy Weather .
Spelling: Take a practice spelling test. Remember the sentence.
