Week of  December 14. 2009 - Third Week of Advent

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There will be a half day on Friday, December 18th.  Buses will run at 11:30 a.m., and Aftercare will be open.

There will be no Star Student this week.

Happy Birthday to Cameron Crowe, on Sunday, December 20th.  We will celebrate his birthday on Monday.

Happy 1/2 Birthday to William Daley on Tuesday, December 15th.  William's birthday is June 15th.

Please disregard the processing fee of $25.00 for the EAPPS Application for volunteers.  This will come out of your registration fee.

There will be no School Directory issued this year.  You can access the directory under Schoolfiles on the Secure Parent Portal.

Please send in Boxtop$ for Education, Tyson A+,  Community Coffee labels, and Campbell's Soup labels.  We have a collection box in our classroom.

Because your child now has the option to bring a lunch from home, you can check the menu for the month on the school website.  The breakfast and lunch menus are listed under Parent Portal.  I will also be announcing the choice for the next day after I get the lunch count for that day.

Please send a note with your child if there is a change in their normal afternoon transportation.  The office needs to know, and I keep the note also.

If your child is sick, please send a note telling me that when he/she returns to school.  I may know your child is sick, but I cannot change the "unexcused absence" to "excused" without that note.  If your child is absent 3 days or longer, I will need a doctor's excuse.    If your child is absent because of a family vacation, absences are not excused.  Thanks for your help with this.

NEW NEWS

We will visit with our Pre-K buddies two times this week.  One will be to watch the Kindergarten Christmas program together on Monday, and the other time will be to sit together at Mass on December 17th.  (The Pre-Kers leave at the homily.)
We are making a card to give to the buddies, so please don't send any gifts for your child to give to his buddy.  It is against school policy to exchange gifts at school.  That goes for our classroom as well.  If your child has something for the whole class, he/she can bring it.    Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

AR ends on Friday, December 18th at 12:00 noon.  If your child has not met his/her goal, you may check online to see how many points are needed.

Conduct folders will come home on Tuesday, and grades will be updated by Tuesday afternoon.

Since the music class is on Thursday, the recorders should be kept at home until Wednesday.  The students should be practicing at home, and Dr. G talked to them about finding a quiet place where they won't disturb other members of the family.  By the end of the year, you will be amazed at how well the students can play.  The recorders were only taught for the last nine weeks last school year, and the progress made was measurable.  Students should be practicing the handout that Dr. G gave out recently.

Mass will be on Tuesday, December 15th, this week.  Please join us at 8:00 in the Church if you can.

**There will be no breakfast service on Friday, December 18th.  Breakfast will be served that day instead of lunch.  Our students will eat at 10:15.**

If you filled out the SACS survey, your child will have FREE dress on Thursday, December 17th.  The coupon sent home said Spirit dress, but the students will have FREE dress that day.  Please follow the guidelines in the handbook.

Spirit Dress Day is Friday, December 18th.  Please follow the guidelines in the handbook.

The Christmas Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the Church.  Please come and celebrate the season and hear performances from our choir and band.

There will be no library on Friday because of the 1/2 day schedule.

We visited Mrs. Gautier's classroom last week to see a Power Point on how to do a science project.  Check out two links below, Science Buddies and Create-a-Graph, for valuable information and assistance.

If there is a difference between Quia notes and the assignment pad, please follow the assignment pad.
