If you have any questions or concerns, please send me a note, leave a message at school (345-0977), call me at home (345-8841),or email me through Quia. Week of February 6, 2012 Messages: New Messages: The Saint Joseph Altar is just right around the corner. Remember to save the date- Friday, March 2. The new rosary date is Friday, May 11. Remember to save the date. Progress Reports will be available online as of Friday, February 3rd. Please check grades and absences online, sign the form, and return as soon as possible. ***The last grades were entered on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Science test grades should be posted late Sunday afternoon. Please check your child's grades online Sunday night for updated grades. We will also be sending home an AR Update on Monday, February 6th. It will include your child's progress as of Friday, February 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Thank you for returning it as soon as possible. Valentine's Day is right around the corner. We will be doing a small Valentine exchange at the end of the day on Valentine's Day. If you wish to send Valentines, please send 23 unaddressed Valentines. Only have your child sign his/her name. There should be no specific Valentine for one specific person. If you wish to send Valentines candy to include with the card, you may do so as well. ***Students have been working on their Literature Circle Sheets for each chapter of the novel, Henry and the Clubhouse. They were told to keep their sheets in their Literature Circle folder as they will be turned in as a packet for their alternative assessment grade in Reading. Please check with your child periodically about these sheets. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP ALL OF THESE PAPERS TOGETHER IN THE MANILA FOLDER THAT WAS PROVIDED TO THEM! They will get points for each paper that is turned in, or a deduction for any missing papers. Please make sure they are keeping these papers in their folder. There are several students who are still missing supplies. It is difficult to complete activities/assignments/projects without all the necessary supplies. Please check with your child to see what he/she needs. Remember only navy or white jackets can be worn inside. Ongoing Messages: Firstinmath can be done at home. Students can earn Snack it Your Way Coupons for completing each set. The coupon gives the student a privilege to bring any kind of food and any kind of drink as their snack. Spelling City is a great way to learn and practice the weekly spelling words. Please ask your child about Factivation. It is a great multiplication website that teaches facts which makes it fun and easy to learn. I bought the added program so that all of my students are able to go online and play the videos for fact rules, strategies, chants, and connections as well as play games to reinforce the facts. I encourage your child to practice his/her facts and to use this fabulous tool to learn his/her multiplication facts. I have several website games and practice. Please look at the very bottom of my Quia. Some are labeled all subjects while others are specific skills in a certain subject. Please check them out and let the games begin. Just a reminder that there will be 9 addition facts, 9 subtraction facts, and 10 multiplication facts on each weekly timed test. Just a reminder that I have many websites to practice multiplication facts. Please encourage your child to practice at home daily. Also writing the facts and doing flashcards are very effective. We will do a combination of doing hands-on activities, making manipulatives, watching videos, listening to CD's, writing facts several times each, and doing practice sheets in class. We will also assign practice sheets and writing facts for homework. Please continue to collect Boxtops for Education, Tyson chicken labels, and Community Coffee labels. We have a collection box in our classroom. Please put the labels in a baggie with your child's name, my name, and 4th grade written on it. Check the calendar for upcoming events. ***Check Quia under Robbyn Davis for additional Social Studies information and under Beth Daschbach for additional Science information. ___________________________________________________________________ Test Schedule AR: Should be 74% of goal by this Friday Remember: Ongoing English Skills can be on upcoming English tests: kinds of sentences, fragment or sentence, how to answer in a complete sentence, complete/simple subjects/predicates, compound subjects/predicates, common/proper nouns, singular/plural nouns, possessive nouns, pronouns, possessive pronouns, and main/helping/linking verbs, tense, subject/verb agreement, verbs, and prepositions.
