WELCOME TO FOURTH GRADE!!!

If your child received a Diocese of Baton Rouge Dress Down Coupon, it is for Free Dress on Thursday, December 17 and NOT Spirit Dress. Only those students will have Free Dress on Thursday because their parents submitted a SACS survey.

ALL students will have Spirit Dress on Friday, December 18.

Practice New Notes - high "C" on page 8 ("catch a fox and put him in a box"
from A Hunting We Will Go) and high "D" (from Jingle Bells, page 13.)

Timed test: Starting in January: 1 minute for multiplication facts and division facts will soon be on timed test.SEE INFORMATION ABOUT SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR PROJECT. THIS IS OPTIONAL IN 4TH GRADE. WE NEED A NOTE IF YOUR CHILD IS INTERESTED IN DOING ONE.

SEE ADVENT TREE WHICH NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN JANUARY 8 WITH PARENT SIGNATURE.

I WILL SHOW THE STUDENTS THE WEBSITE FOR THE LIVE NATIVITY THAT IS IN HAMMOND. PLEASE LOOK BELOW UNDER USEFUL LINKS UNDER LIVE NATIVITY IN HAMMOND. THEY WILL HAVE THIS EVENT TWO WEEKENDS, DEC. 12, 13 AND DEC. 19, 20 FROM 5:30 TO 8:30. IT IS FREE. CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE. IT IS A VERY NICE, WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT TEACHING THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS. THERE ARE ROMAN SOLDIERS WALKING AROUND WHILE YOU WAIT TO BOARD A SEATED TRAILOR TO VIEW DIFFERENT STATIONS. THERE ARE DIFFERENT BOOTHS TO REPRESENT BETHLEHEM LIKE FOOD, ANIMAL SKINS, CRAFTS, POTTERY, ETC. THERE WILL BE HOT CHOCOLATE AND COOKIES AT THE END OF THE RIDE. IT TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES.   CONSIDER GOING; IT IS WONDERFUL.

Please do not send any gifts for your child's Pre-K buddy. Also, do not exchange gifts at school. If your child has something for the entire class, he/she can bring it.

The last day to take an AR test is Friday, Dec. 18 at 11:00. Please encourage your child to read and take tests. It is 30 points and a reading grade which can affect the final grade tremendously.

Don't forget your recorders and orange book for music on Thursday.

Five reminders:
1. Please check to see if your child needs a hair cut. Notices will go home indicating a time frame that your child has to get his hair cut. Girls' hair must not be in the eyes.
2. Please check with your child to see if he/she needs any necessary supplies such as pencils, highlighter, black sharpie, glue, scissors, colored pencils, markers, multiplication flashcards, division flashcards, slash pockets for binder, and pencil bag.
3. Please do not remove any subject papers from binder. We work on them throughout the week. We will clean out folders as a class every couple of weeks.
4. Only crew or knee socks should be worn.
5.   Boys must wear a belt every day.

Remember the spelling website www.spellingcity.com that can be used for every weekly spelling list.

Addition and subtraction problems will be on every math test in addition to the current skill. Your child will be assigned one addition or one subtraction problem every day to reinforce the process.

Please check your child's grades and AR online every week. Please note that you can give an email address and they will send you an email every time your child takes an AR test. Please encourage your child to read at home and do not wait to the last minute. AR is worth 30 points which can affect your child's reading grade tremendously.

Please send in Box top$ for Education, Tyson A+, Community Coffee labels, and Campbell's Soup labels. We have a collection box in our classroom. They will be kept until the next school competition.
