REMINDERS:
1. Mass will be every Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
2. When eating lunch with your child, please notify the cafeteria in advance and bring the correct change.
3. Half day Friday October 3rd for grades 1-4. Dismissal is at 11:30a.m. Please be reminded that there will be no bus service on this day.
4. THE FIRST QUARTER OF AR ENDS ON OCTOBER 10TH.
5. Permission for field trip to Columbia is due Oct. 1st.
DAILY ASSIGNMENTS:
SPELLING: Word List 5 are words with the long /e/ sound. Study nightly and write each word three times to be turned in on Friday. Remember to write this on looseleaf paper with a complete heading format. Test Friday, Oct. 3rd. Students should be able to write each word correctly.

READING: We are beginning the story, "The Perfect Pet". Please read the story nightly from the CDrom and study the vocabulary. We will have a test for this story sometime late next week. The comprehension skills covered with this story are problem, action, solution and text features (diagrams). The dictionary skill is homographs/multiple meaning words. Please review any practice book pages and class work along with the vocab. and story.

MATH: We have begun chp. 2. The skills that we are covering in this chapter include: Commutative, Associative, and Identify properties of addition, fact families of addition and subtraction, locating patterns for In/Out tables, writing number sentences from word problems, using tens to add and subtract, and estimating sums and differences. Check assignment pads for correlating practice work. The test will be sometime late next week.

RELIGION: Today we contructed a bubble map on Archangels with the skill main idea and detail. Tuesday there will be an oral quiz on "The Guardian Angel" prayer. On Wednesday, Oct. 1st we will begin discussing the Rosary. Chapter 3 "Christ Will Come Again" includes the meaning of the second coming. Please study highlighting from Chp. 3 nightly as well as key words. A test on Chp. 3 will follow next week.

ENGLISH: We are reviewing nouns, verbs, and subject & predicates using th e Shurley Method system of classifying sentences. Students will be writing notes and receiving handouts that cover these skills. There is no text book on this therefore students must pay close attention and participate in class.

SCIENCE: Quiz Wed. Oct. 1st. on Chp. 4, lesson 3. Students will create weather safety posters.
