WOW! This has been an awesome year for gifted and talented students. All grade levels have experienced making a radio show called a podcast. More and more episodes will come next year. Students have made movies and used new creative and critical thinking programs on the computer. Novels have been read and discussed. Research activities have produced great PowerPoint presentations. Writing styles of authors have been explored and students have applied those styles in their own writing. Project based final assignments have produced awesome creations. Problem solving strategies have been instrumental in the success of mental math and math manipulative activities. New ways of using the palm pilots have been put into practice. Bloom’s strategies of analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing, which are part of the gifted framework, have been incorporated all year in class. Finally, students have applied the sixteen Habits of the Mind head on with great enthusiasm. Persistence remains the number one habit of never giving up, just keep on trying!
