Welcome to the HighWay 301 — the faith studies curriculum for 8th grade. Before the word “Christian” was invented, disciples of Jesus were known as followers of “the Way” (see, for example, Acts 9:1-2). Adopting a playful variation of this rich biblical metaphor as our class title and theme, TES Eighth graders take HighWay 301 to explore the roads that lead to God, to greater self-understanding, to more responsible relationships with others, and to their role in the larger world of high school and beyond. Students may: Come here for downloadable assignment handouts! Come here for helpful links! Come here for class news and needs. Unlike Highways 101 and 201, the life skills portion of Highway 301 will be integrated into our schedule with a series of day-long seminars focusing on specific life-skills topics. These day-long seminars will happen on Tuesdays and will take the place of ALL Tuesday 8th grade classes (not just Highway) on the day in question. The first of these seminars happens on Tuesday, September 29, when the focus will be drugs and addiction (see your syllabus!). So pack your bags, gas up the car, and fasten your seat belts! We're gonna hit the road!
