Behavior Expectations

  • Basic Rules- Each student has the right to learn and the teacher has the right to teach. In order for those rights to be upheld, everyone in the social studies classroom is expected to live up to the following standards:
    1. Be on time (legitimate tardiness and missed classes will need to be made up with Mr. Pereira but truancy means 0% for ANY MISSED WORK)
    2. Be ready to learn (this includes having all class materials, not wasting class time, and PARTICIPATING IN CLASS DISCUSSIONS)
    3. Be respectful (especially remember to respect other students’ right to learn and the teacher’s right to teach)
    4. Be responsible (accept consequences for your actions and do your own work)
  • Consequences- If a student’s behavior should in any manner compromise the safety of others in class, the office will be informed immediately. In all other cases, the teacher will use the following system for discipline:
    1. Warning (3)
    2. Detention 10th period in room 229 with a call to parents if the student stays a second time.
    3. Written report to the office if the behavior continues.
