Welcome To Anatomy!!!

L. Kaplan
Anatomy and Physiology
Dear Student
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Honors Anatomy and Physiology at Athens Drive High School. I look forward to working with you and during this school year in a dedicated effort toward successful completion of this elective science course. It is my goal to instill in you an interest, understanding, and appreciation for the complexities of the human body.
You will find on the attached pages important information concerning this course, policies and procedures as well as student responsibilities. Each student will be required to keep these guidelines in his or her notebook for future reference.
Block scheduling requires swift curriculum pacing in order to cover the course material. Consistent attendance will be critical in order for you to not fall behind. Anatomy and Physiology is a vocabulary intensive course and one that requires students to utilize their memorization skills. Each Thursday during the 2nd half of smart lunch, I will be available in my room for a Tutorial and Mandatory Guided Study will meet each Friday.
Please seek extra help when needed, to keep pace with assignments and reading and to establish effective organization and study skills.
Progress reports will be issued the weeks of September 22nd and December 8th requiring a parent’s signature. Please obtain a password for SPAN and use it regularly to monitor your progress. In addition, please frequently visit my anatomy website which is easily accessed through the Athens Drive homepage, faculty link. I am available to discuss your progress at any time during the school year. You may reach me by e-mail (lkaplan@wcpss.net) or by calling the main office (233-4050) and leaving a message. I will respond as soon as possible.
