Words to KNOW:

Download – When you receive (bring “down” or add to your own computer or hard drive) a file, application or program via Web or modem.  

Upload – When you send (take “up” from or off of your own computer or hard drive) to someone else’s computer  or hard drive via Web or modem.

Chat/Forums – Chat Rooms: Generally, places where all those who are in the course and signon during the scheduled “chat” on a spefic topic or subject. Each party can “send” (type in and hit “send”) his or her own message into the multi-party format.

Class Forum – Generally, each individual can “post” his or her own comments, questions on a particular subject, event or assignment for ALL to see, read and “reply” to. A Great way for students to be “inter-connected” with each other.  

Calenders/Events – Generally, announcements are made to all as to certain speakers, chats, forums, and events which respond to certain calendar dates with respect to certain subjects and/or assignments.

Online Quizzes/Tests – Basically, taking and entering your answers to test questions completely online.  (As opposed to printing out and responding to test questions.)  Some are timed and some are not. Also, many times, online quizzes can be taken more than once.
