What do you want to be when you grow up? Thats a question everyone is asked. Careers in Internet Technology have been very popular in recent years and studies have shown that the market will remain strong for many years to come. If you are interested in a career working in Internet Technologies you will need to be versed in many differrent skills. This first lesson gives an overview of the Information Technology field and the various career opportunities and job roles that are available. Consider the following as you work through this lesson and prepare to discuss in class:
1) What are the job roles and their responsibilities?
2) Right now, which job roles do you think would be of interest to you and why? Is it possible to fill multiple job roles? Why or why not?
3) How do you connect to the Internet from home, from school?
4) After going through this material does your classroom operate on a network? Does your school? What kind of network is used? Is your classroom network part of the schools network?

Use the material in this lesson and the Internet to research the following.
DNS. Pick a domain name you would like to use for a Web site you are developing. Now what do you do? How is that name that you have associated to your Web site? What do you have to do in order to use it? Where will you register your domain? How much will it cost? How many places are there to register domain names? Can you think of advantaqes or disadvanges of using one register over another?
