Discussions for Web Browsing
You would be surprised by the number of people who say they know everything there is to know about Web browsing simply because there is a big " e " on the desktop of their computer and when they click it, they are connected to the Internet. There is actually more to Web browsing and even more to consider if you want to design and post Web sites that will be viewed in Web browsers. Consider the following as you work through this lesson and prepare to discuss in class:
1) What are the most popular Web browsers?
2) Before now, how many different browsers have you used?
3) What features about the Web browser you use do you like? What features would you change?
4) After going through this material do you think you will change browsers? Why or why not?
Web Browsing: Your Turn
Use the material in this lesson and the Internet to research the following.
Browser usage. What is the market share for browsers? In other words, which browsers are used and what percentage are they used on the Internet? What was the first web browser on the Internet and when was it introduced and by who?
Why is it important to consider Web browsers when designing Web sites? Can you give examples?
