Discussions for E-mail and Personal Informational Management
E-mail has now become a part of our daily lives. It is used now as often as the telephone. Consider the following as you work through this lesson and prepare to discuss in class:
1) Do you have an e-mail address?
2) Do you have more than on e-mail account? Why? Why not?
3) How often do you send e-mail?
4) Who do you e-mail?
5) Do you have a PDA?
6) Why would you use a PDA?
Research e-mail:
Use your text material and the Internet to research and prepare to discuss the following:
Research e-mail use in todays society. How many e-mail messages are sent everyday? What do people use e-mail for typically?
What is the percentage of e-mail that is sent that is SPAM? What is SPAM and where did the name come from? What are some ways of protecting your e-mail account from being accessed by SPAMMERS.
What type of e-mails need to be encrypted? If you do not have an e-mail account set one up using either Hot Mail or YAHOO! Mail. Download and install PGP and install on your computer, if permitted in your classroom. Team up with another member in your class and practice sending each other an encrypted message.
