3. . Culture Project. Working in groups of 4 persons you will prepare an illustrated oral presentation on the some aspect or aspects of the culture of Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela or Puerto Rico. The project will be presented to the class towards the end of the semester. (See Full Version of the Course Outline for details of the project.) You need to form your groups as soon as possible and decide on what aspects of the culture you wish to focus. As part of the planning each group will prepare a proposal and submit it by March 9, 2011. Use the following form for the submission of the proposal.

4. Composition - January 7, 2011.
On May 2, 2011 you will be writing a composition in class. The topic of your composition will be "Un personaje conocido del pasado a quien admiro." You will write in Spanish a composition of about 125 words on a well-known person (no longer alive) whom you admire. (See the course outline for details.) Here are some things to consider in preparing your composition:
- Identify the person?
- When and where did the person live?
- Describe the person?
- What did the person do to become well-known?
- Why do you admire this person?
Start collecting your ideas, reviewing and practising the necessary vocabulary and structures, and preparing your draft beforehand.

6. For Wednesday, January 12, come prepared to introduce yourself to the class and say something brief about yourself, in Spanish.

Do the quiz 4 times for warm-up and review. These should be genuine "good-faith" attempts.

22. Do Exercise B (Lengua y Cultura: La Virgen de Guadalupe) on pages 282 -283 of your textbook.
Clearly and carefully write by hand (DO NOT TYPE.) the passage (double-spaced) filling in the appropriate forms of the words given in parentheses.
Clearly number the answers and neatly UNDERLINE and HIGHLIGHT the words or expressions that you fill in.
Hand in this assignment at the beginning of class on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.

Your two charactes are angel and Cristina. Place them in a specific time frame, providing descriptive and background details, as necessary, and using the necessary transitional phrases to make your story flow smoothly.
