You may answer the question on your own if you are able. However, you still must locate where it can be found on the internet (give the name of the internet site where the answer can be found). Activity Questions (3 points each question): 1. What are the 3 ways you can write a ratio? Provide your own numbers. 2. What term did Carl Friedrich Gauss coin? 3. Where would I go to learn some facts about the number Pi? 4. What mathematical ideas did M.C. Escher use in his art? 5. What does the word ‘perimeter’ mean? 6. When did Emmy Noether complete her doctorate? 7. Print out a worksheet on the ‘order of operations.’ 8. If the length and width of a rectangular swimming pool is 12 ft. and 5 ft. respectively, what will be the pools perimeter? What will be its area? 9. What medal did William Burnside receive? 10. Here’s a HISTORY question: The King of Syracuse asked the GREEK mathematician, Archimedes, to help him solve a problem. What was that problem? Were you able to find the answers easily using the internet sites provided? Why or why not? Project (10 points): Using the sites provided below, create your own activity. Make up 5 of your own questions, and have another student in the class try to answer them. Extra Credit (5 points): What is the maximum number of points you can get for this assignment?
