1)  How does society view interracial dating presently as opposed to earlier years?

2)  How do the views and opinions of the outside world affect the lives and relationships of interracial couples?

I researched the topic of interracial dating because I am very familiar with it.  While I was growing up, my sister always dating outside of the white race. A good majority of her friends did as well.  My mom was never one to judge her boyfriends on race, cultural background or ethnicity.  My mom always told us that it is what's inside that counts.  However, many other people in the world do not share the same views as my mom, they base it on skin color, something we preach not to do in America.

Presently I feel that many people in our society have come to realize and accept the fact that interracial dating isn't going away.  Although they may not like it, or do it themselves they know they can't take the rights away from others who are doing it.  On the other hand, we do still have those people that think it is totally immoral and wrong to do.  They consider bi-racial couples deviant and can't stand to see the site of them.  For these people, i feel bad for.  They are not mature enough to open up their minds to reality.  These same people can't swallow their pride and are too stubborn to admit they don't mind it, even if they didn't.

One reason why I chose this topic is because currently I am in an interracial relationship.  Many people don't think of it that way because I am not dating a black guy.  I am dating a hispanic guy.  People don't look at us differently or anything.  My advice to others is to just ignore what others say and keep doing your own thing.  You will never succeed in life if you don't live for yourself.  Whatever makes you happy is what you should pursue is my motto.

Some people who date interracially have no problems with dealing with all that comes with it.  Others take it to heart what people think or say about you and  your partner.  Upon searching numerous websites the majority of them said that the stares, dirty looks and rude remarks do bother them, but not to the point where they would let those ignornat people take away their happiness.  Also many people said that if it was their family who was doing this it would be another story, because family will always be there, and a boyfriend or girlfriend may not be.  Personally, if I were in that situation, I would hope that my family would learn to accept the fact that I am happy, and get over the simple thing that was causing them distress, skin color.

Interracial dating is something that you can see everywhere.  Many people disagree with it, and many don't mind it one bit.  To those couples in these relationships, do not allow ignorant people to affect your happiness in any way shape or form, you must learn to live life for yourself.  Many more people are becoming to realize that it should be accepted, and thats a great thing to know that America just might be able to get over something that they don't like!
