February 14, 2012, Hi Otters, I am excited about seeing all of you again after over two months while I recuperates from my fall. Mr. Lucash did a wonderful job of teaching you about economics and the physical features of Africa. He told me that there will be a quiz on Thursday, so be sure to study! You can tell me all that you learned while I was gone, as I really want to know. I watched the video that you made for me, "Words that Describe Mrs. Jalkut." My smile increased with each adjective as I thought of you guys and the fun we had learning during the first term. Thank you so much for the welcoming back video that has inspired me to try to do my best for you once again. And thank you to Stephen for making it! I am going to be slower than I was before I fell and need to count on all of you to help me conserve my energy. YOU will do all the popping up that i usually do to get things and use the Epson and clean and organize. Sound good? Sounds like a great plan to me! See you tomorrow! (As I write, this is Valentine's Day. Hope you all have fun!) I look forward to enjoying learning with you for the rest of the year as we explore Asia and Europe. I am smiling as I write this note to you, early in the morning before my first day back with you! Mrs. Jelly/Jalkut

Hi there, Otters!

In the Useful Links section at the bottom of this site are three sources for you use in your research on your South American country. They are the first three choices. After you have finished the research, you and your partner will create the cereal box in class. We will follow up with a project of your choice, which I will explain in class. Most of the work will be done in school, as I know how hard it is to find common time to get together at home. I hope you will have fun learning more about your special South American country and sharing with the rest of the class!

Please be careful to follow the format for answering HW questions, including using proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling so you do not have to do it all over again! That would be such a waste of time and a disappointment! We will be using the format I teach you all year.

Thank you all for being such respectful, cooperative, enjoyable Otters! Mrs. Jalkut

I have provided links for you to access school-appropriate websites for current events. Be sure the event is a current one that is in the news - one that has happened recently (within the past few months) and not information on the country. I am excited about our new news presentations and look forward to learning from you!

On this Quia site, there are review games and study strips to help you learn all the countries of the world, terms and definitions, outlining guidelines. Use the STOP and STUDY, GOOD to GO method I taught or will teach you.

My official Help Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, but, I am available mornings and other days also. Just ask and I'll be there for you!
