In literature class we concentrate on reading comprehension, the writing process and six traits, especially using formal voice. We also study vocabulary in context and practice listening and speaking. In grammar, we concentrate on conventions, and six traits in personal voice with the 8th grade memoir, class newspaper articles, and other writing assignments. Both these classes help us meet the student learning expectation of being an Effective Communicator.

In 8th grade we practice being Active Learners by talking about books you choose to read. We will do this at quarterly book talks, time and places will be announced in class, but generally they are the last Saturday of each quarter. Click here if you need a book talk form.
