LANGUAGE ARTS
WRITING
The children are continuing to work on learning to write a How To paper. We have been working on writing a paper about Good Readers. The ch i ldren are lea rning how to connect ideas together to form paragraphs. The children have begun writing a "How to" paper on "How to Survive Spring Break." They have some very interesting and funny ideas.
SOCIAL STUDIES
The children have been working all week on their Famous American reports. They finally finished their reports and the children got to share their reports. While they shared their reports we had visits from Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington. It was obvious that the children worked very hard on their costumes and posters.
COMPUTERS
We did not go to computers this week.
MATH
The children have also been learning about fractions. We each drew a picture of each of our families to show that what part we are of our whole family. We also did several Valentine math activities.
EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!
We watched a puppet presentation of Beauty and the Beast.
Beginning Thursday, February 14, the children will start having handwriting as part of their homework. I discus sed with the children that we will continue to practice handwri ting until everyone can demonstrate correct letter formation.
