Discovering Worksheets
Dear Teacher of French using Discovering French:
Thank for your interest in these three sets of worksheets designed to correlate with Discovering French Bleu, Blanc and Rouge by Valette and Valette. The reasons for writing Discovering Worksheets are several: 1) additional student practice, 2) integrated review of all grammar sections and all vocabulary, 3) supplemental reinforcement of grammar, 4) supplemental writing / translation practice, 5) worksheets at a more challenging level than provided by DC Heath’s activity book, and 6) the ability to change and modify worksheets to fit individual teachers’ needs, locality and current events.
Integrating other resources has always posed a dilemma, as vocabulary often does not correlate to the grammar. During six years of using Discovering French Bleu, (four times per day), I created these worksheets to fill in the gaps. Now, a novel set of supplemental worksheets fits Discovering French Bleu, Blanc and Rouge, all tested and used with students from over 19 nationalities.
The mere fact that these documents are in an electronic format opens up a whole new range of potential uses for them. With a computer projector I show the documents on the board where I then display the correct answers. I post the documents on my website for students to download from home should they have left them at school.
My teaching experience covers twenty-four years in grades Pre-K through grade 12. At this time my work experience is fairly equal with all grade levels. I currently teach mixed grade level classes, (8th to12th) Fr. II, III, IV, V-AP French Language in an American international school. Fifty percent of the French II students are in grades nine and ten.
