Dear Johnston Band Family,
2009 has been a great year for the Johnston High School Bands. The class of 2009 left us with many great performances and the start of the 2009-2010 school year has continued to build to bigger and better things.
Congratulations to the Concert Band and Wind Symphony for a very good concert on December 14th. Congratulations also to our three jazz bands for outstanding performances at the SCIBA Jazz Festival. Jazz Band finished 5th in the second band class and the Jazz Syndicate finished 2nd in Class 4A. The Jazz Syndicate is now qualified for the 2010 Iowa Jazz Championships.
I am also pleased to announce that the Jazz Syndicate has been selected as one of the featured bands at the 2010 Jazz Education Network National conference in St. Louis, Missouri in May. This is a huge honor for the entire band program.
I look forward to continued great things in 2010!
