Dear Parents and Friends, I look forward to a wonderful 2004-2005 school year! I can't wait to get to know all of you. We will experience amazing adventures, meet people, experiment, cooperate, act, cook... Together we will learn and grow. You will have a lot of fun learning in my classroom! We will have so much fun with mini book clubs. October Genre- Mystery or (scary books would be appropriate for this month) Type of book response- Computer slide show Due- The book must be finished on or before the last school day of the month. The slide show will be completed IN CLASS. I will help the kids with this multi media project. You may want to bring your book to class the last week of the month to help you with spelling and the author's name... Science We will be studying environments. Be prepared to have fun with plants, fish, beetles, bugs, brine shrimp...We will be woking on experiments every day and learning how to take notes. You will all need to work in cooperative groups of four for this unit. Language We are learning how to write using 6 writing traits. For example - our voice comes from our heart and must be seen and felt as we read. We will also continue doing a lot of writing, grammar, parts of speech, proofreading... Book orders are always due the 2nd week of every month. I send them out usually on the 15th and no later. PLEASE SEND PAYMENT IN CHECK FORM ONLY. THANKS. We will be going to Riveredge Nature Center to study ponds, Old Stony Hill School and Pioneer Village, The Health Education Center, First Stage to see a play called "Honk" in March, and of course Madison and the Veteran's museum to learn more about WI and history. Turn in your permission slip and $ the 1st week of school and then you are all set for the year! Turn in all your forms for school right away.
