Welcome to Miss Rowe's Resort

Interims come home Wednesday, March 5!

Please ask your child what supplies they are missing and send in a fresh supply of pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue! Click here for the supply list.

I have posted links to the VA SOLs, as well as the Enhanced Scope and Sequence under the useful links. The Enhanced Scope and Sequence provides sample lessons and assessments for a given SOL.

Read Aloud Virginia is underway. Please record your nightly readings on the pink November calendar that was sent home and return it at the end of the month. The 2nd grade class with the highest number of participants gets to have the special Read Aloud Virginia Eagle visit the classroom; as well as the Read Aloud Virginia flag hung on the door. Reading to your child is a great way to help them become fluent readers as they are able to hear an experienced reader.

Please read with your child 20 minutes each night. AR tests may be taken when morning work is completed and during AR time. Each book needs to be read at least 2 times before your child may take a test.

Spelling

Each week your child is given a new set of 15 spelling words. On Thursdays we have a spelling pretest. If your child earns a 100% on the pretest he/she does not have to take the test on Friday. Please help your child to learn his/her spelling words.

For the next 5 weeks we will be working on our 4th unit in reading. We will be working on various skills, such as sequencing, theme, realism and fantasy, and making judgments. Please read with your child for at least 20 minutes each night. Another way to help your child is to read to THEM every night!
