This website will help you stay on top of daily, weekly, and long term projects as well as general information. I will update the page every Sunday evening. Please keep in mind that plans do change based on the pacing of the class. Your agenda is the best place to find up to date information. Parents, due to increased absenteeism in this cold and flu season, I wish to communicate and clarify a school policy regarding absences: If your child is absent, he must produce a written excuse note UPON HIS RETURN TO SCHOOL. This rule applies whether or not the student was phoned out. If he does not produce one, he will be forwarded to the nurse's office to call for one. A "rule of thumb" for fevers is that the student should be fever-free, med-free for 24 hours prior to his return to school. This helps protect the health of the children already in attendance. Regarding missed work: I will make every effort to collect requested books for absent students BY THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY. I teach all morning long, without a break, and am logistically unable to get together the volume of absent work necessary in these days of widespread illness. Please consult this web page for scheduled assignments. Parents I would like to show the movie "The Nativity Story" this week in class. It is rated PG but has some intense moments. I have watched it many times with my own children ages 7 and 11 and they both love it. It has a very stong message of the reason we celebrate Christmas and the events that led up to that moment of Christ's birth. I will be sending home a permission slip on Monday and hope to get them back by Tuesday. Don't forget Friday December 18th is a half day and the beginning of Christmas Break!
