I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween.
We had a great day last Friday. Merlin, the wizard, was at 1-N's door in the morning to greet the students. (He happens to be one of the characters in The Magic Tree House series we are currently reading in class who has sent characters Jack and Annie on a special mission to a haunted castle).

All of the students looked wonderful in their costumes. Mrs. Barros, Jack's mom, was kind enough to take individual pictures of all the students, as well as a group photo. Pictures were sent home on Friday with each student. A big "thank you" to Mrs. Barros.
A witch showed up after recess and told a scary tale of The Strange Visitor. Afterwards, students spent the rest of the afternoon rotating from some fun activities at learning stations. They weighed pumpkins, guessed if a pumpkin could float, estimated and counted pumpkin seeds, estimated and measured the circumference of a pumpkin, compared and contrasted a pumpkin and an orange, and wrote an ending to the witch's story. A huge "thank you" goes out to all of the mothers who volunteered to run each learning station: Mrs. MacMiller, Mrs. Guiboux, Mrs. Salisbury, Mrs. Langley, Mrs. Will, Mrs. Rivas, and Mrs. Barros (who took pictures during the activities). I could not have done this fun Halloween Day without your gracious help. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
We will be doing a pumpkin craft activity during the month of November. Please send in two pair of nylons with your child. You can purchase nylons at the 99 cent store if you like. There are just some requirements: no black nylons; adult size only (no child size); no sheer nylons (they rip easily); thick, white nylons work well. Please send them in a plastic baggie labeled with your child's name. If you could have the nylons in by this Friday, November 6th, I would greatly appreciate it. I need to prep them before the students use them. Thank you.

I would also like to thank Mrs. Caputo for decorating our outside board this month. She did a fabulous job!
