Religion

In the first unit the children are invited to respond to God's goodness with a sense of wonder, reverence, and gratitude. After learning about the holiness of God's name, the holy Bible, and the wonders of creation, the children are led to respond to God's love through prayer. As they learn how to pray with quiet hearts, they discover that prayer includes both talking and listening to God.

Language Arts

Unit 2 and Unit 3:

*Introduce and practice the beginning sound of Oo and Gg.

*Teach and reinforce the comprehension strategies, generate questions, make and confirm predictions, draw conclusions, and distinguish between reality and fantasy.

*Dictated and independent writing.

*Practice the correct formation of the letters Cc, Oo and Gg.

Math

*Use our position words to follow and give directions.

*Recognize, describe, and extend simple directions.

*Sort objects by looking at color, size, shape, texture, and number.

*Decide why objects do or do not belong in a category.

Social Studies

*Learn and practice our school and classroom rules.

*Learn to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
