The Anti-Cruelty Society and the The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine is offering students that are interested in becoming veterinarians a chance to learn about the field directly from the experts in their school-year-long Veterinary Mentoring Program. This program meets one Saturday a month from September through July at the Ant-Cruelty Society located at 169 W. Grand Ave in Chicago. Each session offers a unique look at the field of veterinary medicine. The goal is to introduce students to the different areas of science that they will encounter in veterinary school, and to give them further exposure of what their college-level course work will be like. Requirements include being enrolled in 10th through 12th grade and have completed at least one biology class, a verified 3.0 GPA, a serious interest in the career of Veterinary Medicine and a proven aptitude for science. Students must be able to attend a two hour seminar one Saturday per month at the Anti-Cruelty Society. For an application, please come to the counseling office. All applications are due by June 30, 2014.

Colleges that Change Lives will be hosting a half-hour presentation and a 1 1/2 hour college fair in two locations on Sunday, August 24, 2014. The first is at noon at the Lincolnshire Marriott in Lincolnshire. The second is at 5:00 pm at the Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca. They will share with you the latest research on specific campus characteristics and learning components that result in the most successful college experiences. Above all, they will encourage you to make the college search process a well-informed journey that leads to the best possible outcome: finding the best fit. Students and families will be able to collect information and speak directly with admission representatives from the colleges and universities that inspired the book, Colleges That Change Lives. University Prep allows students to devote three intensive weeks in the summer to the college application process, helping them to become the strongest applicants they can be. Joined by other highly motivated, like-minded students, University Prep participants undertake rigorous test prep, academic vitae writing and college visits and analysis, all in the beautiful setting of some of the country's most prestigious campuses. Application fees will be waived at each of the 22 colleges or universities you visit during Private College Week! You are encouraged to schedule an individual visit at any private, nonprofit college or university at any time during the year. Harper College REACH Summer Bridge Program helps students successfully transition from high school to college. Incoming Harper freshmen, who apply and get accepted, receive the opportunity to get a head start on their freshman year, earn free college credit and receive money to help with future tuition and fees, amongst other benefits. To apply for this free program, you must reside in Harper's district, be a recent high school graduate, be registered for Harper credit classes in the fall of 2014 and did not place into college level English or Math. NACAC Performing and Visual Arts College Fair - Chicago Edition will be on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at DePaul University's Theater School, from 1:00 PM until 3:30 pm. Over 100 schools specializing in the Performing and Visual Arts (Dance, Music, Theater, Studio Art, as well as related disciplines - Music Business, Technical Theater, and Art History) will be looking for potential students. Grinnell College Diversity Preview Program offers students of color or students who will be first in their families to graduate high school or students who will be first in their families to attend college, a chance to visit Grinnell, all expenses paid. While you are there, you can attend classes, stay overnight in a residence hall with a host student, sample the College's many free, on-campus cultural events, and meet professors, staff, and students. Miami University 2014 Bridges Program is for high-achieving high school seniors who have a commitment to and appreciation for cultural diversity. The Bridges overnight visit will provide you with a Miami University experience. Meals, lodging, entertainment and some travel expenses will be covered for participants. Students who complete the Bridges Program, apply and are accepted for fall 2015 admission, and enroll at Miami Oxford's campus will be eligible to receive scholarships ranging from $10,000 - $16,000. Ten Bridges participants will receive full tuition scholarships for their four years at Miami. The sessions will be held October 26-27, and November 2-3, 9-10 and 16-17.
